Tour to Hinterland and River CFruise “Catch a Crab”

At 8am you will depart your hotel on the Gold Coast for a 9am departure on the Tweed Endeavour crab catching tour. On board a specially designed river cruiser you can take part in a range of exciting activities such as feeding pelicans, yabbie pumping, fishing, and trapping for crabs. Or, if you prefer, you can simply sit back and enjoy the spectacular natural beauty of the Tweed River. All the equipment for your activities, fishing equipment and bait are included in the tour. Your friendly crew will also provide tea or coffee and biscuits for morning tea, and a delicious crab lunch. Alcohol, soft drinks and juices are extra.

After the cruise, your coach will pick you up and take you on a Hinterland tour through Bilambil to Murwillumbah and then through Chillingham to Natural Bridge. Along this route you will see rolling green hills, rivers and mountain creeks, lush countryside with fields of sugar cane, then cattle country and banana plantations. This tour is all within the caldera of the Mt Warning shield volcano. The caldera valley is over 1000 meters deep and has a diametre of 40 kilometres, making it one of the largest craters in the world. The Mt Warning volcano stopped erupting about 20,000years ago. The ash and lava have been deposited to a diameter of about 100 kilometres.

Next is the picturesque Numinbah Valley (from an Aboriginal word Nyummin (hold tight)) as it was thought to hold two mountains together. In the Numinbah Forest reserve you will find Eucalypt trees, Silky Oaks and unique and pretty native plants such as the Kangaroo Paw.

Natural Bridge, a location for many movies and TV commercials, is the home of one of Australia’s largest glow worm colonies. The rock formation over Cave Creek features in thousands of photo albums and home movies.
