Shotover River Rafting
An action packed, serious white water rafting adventure on the famous Shotover River.
The day kicks off with an unforgettable coach trip along the winding, hand built road into Skippers Canyon. The canyon was created by the Shotover River, one of the world’s richest gold bearing rivers. The road that used to serve the busy gold mining community, is now one of New Zealand’s most scenic.
You’ll climb into your raft in the peaceful waters of Deep Creek after a solid safety briefing. There’s some gentle paddling before you head into the exhilarating, Grade 3 – 5 rapids of the lower canyon – Rock Garden, After Shock, Sharks Fin, Toilet, Pinball and Jaws. Finally, it’s through the 170m historic Oxenbridge Tunnel before shooting through Cascade Rapid and into more serene waters.
Before returning to Queenstown, enjoy a hot shower at our rafting base and perhaps treat yourself to a well-earned hot chocolate, beer or snack at the licensed café.
